President's Message 2008

It is with great pleasure, and some trepidation, that I begin my Presidency of the California Academy of Audiology. I have been thoroughly invested in CAA as a long-time member, and as a board member and conference chair for the last eight years. I have worked along side my colleagues every year to develop this organization from a fledgling group of inspired audiologists, with many goals and dreams, into a respected professional organization with a clear voice for audiologists in Sacramento, throughout the state of California, and at the national level. I am humbled to work with so many dedicated audiologists who readily give of their intellect, professional savvy, energy, money, emotions, and most of all, their time. The board and committee members have worked tirelessly to build this organization into a dedicated and pro-active representative of California's audiologists, as well as an advocate for California's hearing health care consumers. My goals for 2008:

Develop the CAA website as an interactive tool for the state's audiologists.
Keep California audiologists informed of the important legislative work done every day on behalf of CAA.
Maintain a sensitivity to the concerns of all California audiologists, and take action when and where necessary.
Implement new strategies for increasing membership and bringing lost members back into the fold.
Continue our tradition of holding an annual conference filled with important, timely, and relevant professional information.
Streamline the new member and membership renewal process.
Increase the professional profile of California Audiologists to the state's hearing health care consumers.

Come join us in making our state organization all it can be. Strength in numbers has never been truer as we face California's legislative and professional challenges in the coming year.
